<p><strong>HADASSAH</strong></p>
<p>The 100th Anniversary Celebration of The Local Seaport Chapter of Hadassah will be taking place at the Comsewogue Library, large meeting room, in Port Jefferson Station, NY, at 1pm on March 8th.  We are providing Edwardian-style hats similar to the ones worn by the founders 100 years ago.  Bev Tyler, noted Three Village historian, will be the primary speaker.  All are welcome.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We at Antique Costumes and Props have costumed the trailer, and are preparing to costume the upcoming film &#8220;Fragments From Olympus: The Vision Of Nikola Tesla&#8221;. This is being filmed right here on Long Island!  To watch the trailer, click the image below:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-6htyiDUzo"><img class="aligncenter  wp-image-320" title="Nikola Tesla" src="http://antiquecostumes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/tesla.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="288" /></a>The film&#8217;s setting is the late 1800&#8242;s to 1942, and has been costumed by us for the era.  It&#8217;s an enormous undertaking, and the film&#8217;s purpose is to raise awareness of Tesla&#8217;s contributions to science and technology, and also, to help save Wardenclyffe, his lab, (designed by architect Stanford White), which is in danger of being demolished.</p>
<p>This is just another example of how Antique Costumes and Props can provide you with all the costumes of history!</p>

Carnival typically involves a public <a title="Celebration (party)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebration_%28party%29">celebration</a> or <a title="Parade" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parade">parade</a> combining some elements of a <a title="Circus (performing art)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circus_%28performing_art%29">circus</a>, mask and public street party. People often dress up or <a title="Masquerade ball" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masquerade_ball">masquerade</a> during the celebrations, which mark an overturning of daily life.</p>

<p>For 16 years, Antique Costume and Prop Rental by Nan has costumed Father Christmas (this year&#8217;s honoree).  However, we can costume you in ANY of Charles Dickens&#8217; characters, from the 18th Century (A Tale of Two Cities), to the time of Dickens&#8217; passing in 1870.</p>

<p>The Dickens Festival commences with a gathering at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday the 2nd, at 5pm, with the tolling of all the village church&#8217;s bells, a childrens&#8217; choir, and a reading by Ebenezer Scrooge himself.</p>

<p>The 16th Annual Dickens Crystal Ball, held at the Village Center, Friday night from 7 – 11pm, after the opening ceremonies for Holiday Cheer and Celebration. Come in period costumes or in holiday garb. Live music!  Dance to tunes of decades past and current in the beautifully decorated Village Center.<br />

<p align="justify">Embark on a guided tour through the cemeteries of the historic Caroline Church and Setauket Presbyterian Church. Visit with &#8220;Spirits&#8221; who will share experiences that touched the lives of individuals in our community through unselfish and courageous acts of patriotism. Learn about the private lives of the men and women who helped shape the American Revolution.</p>
<p align="justify">Tours leave every 15 minutes from the Caroline Church Community Building on Caroline Avenue in Setauket. Please note, this is a new starting location from previous years. Each tour lasts approximately 1.5 &#8211; 2 hours. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour&#8217;s departure. We advise that you dress warmly, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a flashlight.</p>
<p align="justify">Nan of Antique Costume &amp; Prop Rental in Port Jefferson has provided the costumes and props for the actors and actresses who have portrayed the Spirits for over a decade!</p>
