Organized by the Long Island Woman Suffrage Association and Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association, the annual march for woman suffrage will be taking place this Saturday, April 17th in Lake Ronkonkoma. This year’s event also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Lake Ronkonkoma Free Library, the construction of which was overseen by avid suffragist Lillian DeVere.
All are welcome to participate in the march to bring visibility to the historic movement for woman’s right to vote and are encouraged to dress in period clothing. Bring lunch to enjoy after the march, and stay for the presentation by Ann M. Becker, PhD. Dr. Becker is currently an Assistant Professor at the Long Island Center of SUNY Empire College. Coffee, tea and desserts will be served.
