March For Suffrage! with Antonia Petrash
March 1, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
On Sunday, March 1st the Long Island Woman Suffrage Association will join with the Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association for a re-enactment of a woman suffrage march in Ronkonkoma, New York to kick off the national celebration of March as Women’s History Month.
The march will begin on the corner of Portion Road and Hawkins Avenue at 11am and walk down to Flanagan’s Restaurant, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, and historian/author Antonia Petrash will present a program on Long Island and the Woman Suffrage Movement. Costumes, pins, signs and banners welcome!
Please come and help us re-capture the passion and commitment of the men and women who worked so hard to secure the vote for women, and political equality for everyone. Cost for the luncheon is $30 a person, but marching to support Women’s History Month and the Woman Suffrage Movement is free.
For further information call the Long Island Woman Suffrage Association at 516-671-8218, or the Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association at (631) 831-1670.
